BLIND BARTIMAEUS
Blind and begging by the wayside
Just outside of Jericho
Sat the blind man Bartimaeus
Crying with a voice of woe,
“Have mercy on me, Son of David,”
Was his cry so loudly heard
That they charged him to be quiet
And to utter not a word.
Jesus heard the beggar calling
Asked that he arise come near,
For he knew the blind man trusted
In the words he soon would hear.
“Go your way, your faith has healed you,”
Words the Master spoke that day
Brought discipleship and wholeness
And a follower in the way.
He still calls us to His healing,
He still wants us in His fold,
But like sightless Bartimaeus
We must let our faith take hold.
And Jesus said unto him, Go thy way;
thy faith hath made thee whole.
And immediately he received his sight,
and followed Jesus in the way. Mark 10:52
